New Delhi, Oct 22: The BJP today warned of stern
action against party dissidents in Uttar Pradesh if "concrete
evidence" was found against them but said "most of the MLAs"
have denied involvement in any revolt.

Uttar Pradesh`s BJP leadership, including Vinay Katiyar
and Kalraj Misra, spoke to the MLAs whose names have figured
in reports of dissidence.

Party general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told
reporters here that the state unit of the party has been asked
to examine the issue and if concrete evidence was found
against any member "stern and effective action" would be taken
by tonight or tomorrow morning.

However, Naqvi said the state unit has assured that there
has been "no large-scale dissidence" in the state and that
most of the MLAs have given in writing that they had nothing
to do with the protest following the recent expansion of the
council of ministers in the state.

Asked about those who had not given such an undertaking,
he said a couple of them were outside Lucknow and the party
could not establish contact as yet.

"This entire issue has been taken very seriously by the
party`s central and state leadership and action will be taken
against all those involved, big or small," he said.

A warning note was sounded by Deputy Prime Minister L K
Advani in Mumbai yesterday telling the dissidents "to fall in
line and not to cross Laxman Rekha".

Meanwhile, BJP President Venkaiah Naidu has asked party
general secretary Rajnath Singh to rush to Lucknow.
