Delhi to expand deal to preserve monuments

The Delhi government Wednesday decided to expand a deal with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) for the conservation of 16 historical monuments in the capital, an official said.

New Delhi: The Delhi government Wednesday decided to expand a deal with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) for the conservation of 16 historical monuments in the capital, an official said.
"In view of the impressive outcome of the earlier MoU, extensive resources and expertise of INTACH, it has been decided to further utilize its services for survey, protection and conservation of 16 other monuments," said a Delhi government official.
An MOU was signed in Oct 2008 with INTACH for three years for undertaking the work in two phases. As per an MoU to be signed work on following monuments will be taken up, which include mosque, baoli and water channel in DDA Park Vasant Vihar; Baoli in Dwarika Sector 12, gateways of Badarpur Sarai in Badarpur and Chaumchi Khan`s Tomb in Mehrauli. The monuments were selected for carrying out chemical cleaning and preservation, scientific conservation, the surrounding, developing cultural notice boards and signage and illuminating them. IANS
