Ahmedabad, Oct 18: The condition of National Security Guard (NSG) commando Surjan Singh Bhandari, who was injured during the Akshardham operation, remains "unchanged
and very critical" even after four surgeries by neuro experts,
hospital sources said here today.

"So far four operations have been undertaken but he is
still on life support system," the sources said adding "we are
doing our best."

Surjan Singh, who had shown improvement during initial
days of treatment, had undergone two operations lately
including one on October 16 by a Mumbai-based neuro surgeon.

As he did not show any major improvement, another expert
from army medical corps was flown in yesterday from Pune,
sources said.

The commando was admitted to the neuro-surgery department of the civil hospital here on September 25 after he had sustained bullet injuries during the Akshardham Temple operation.

Another NSG commando Subedar Suresh and two state reserve police commandoes died during the operation.
