Ranchi, July 09: Congress MP Rajo Singh was today remanded to 14 days judicial custody in connection with the fodder scam case by the CBI special judge.
The judge P R Das ordered the remand after rejecting bail petition of Singh, who surrendered in the special CBI court here this morning.

Singh, who represents Begusarai in the Lok Sabha, was served with arrest warrants on June 17.

Praying for bail, Singh's counsel J Ray argued that the CBI chargesheet was defective as the investigating agency instead of taking sanction from Lok Sabha speaker, as the accused was an MP, got it from Bihar Assembly speaker.

He also alleged that Singh was a victim of political conspiracy and that it was evident from CBI raids in 1996 when nothing was found or recovered from his house.

The CBI council B Singh pleaded that there was no defect in the filing of chargesheet as the accused was an MLA when the scam was detected.

The CBI filed chargesheets on June 7 in two cases pertaining to Doranda (Ranchi) and Chaibasa (West Singhbhum) treasuries where Rs 187 crore and Rs 39 crore were withdrawn respectively.
