Gilt scam accused handed over to Amravati police

Nagpur, May 27: Nandkishore Trivedi, one of the key accused in the Rs 150 crore Gilt scam at Nagpur District Central Co-operative Bank (NDCCB), has been handed over to Amravati police in connection with another scam at the people's cooperative bank.

Judicial Magistrate A Z Khan yesterday ordered the investigating agency CID to hand over Trivedi, a former home trade executive director, to Amravati police for further interrogation.

Trivedi, who made a dramatic surrender here last week after being declared an absconder by the designated court, was wanted by Amravati police in connection with Rs 9.5 crore Gilt scam at the people's co-operative bank.

Apart from Trivedi, CID had already filed chargesheet against the main accused and the then NDCCB chairman Sunil Kedar, Sanjay Agarwal and Ketan Sheth of home trade and Gilt edge respectively.

Kedar, Agarwal, Sheth and others were arrested by police after the government securities scam was unearthed in April last year and were subsequently released on bail.
