Lucknow, Oct 13: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad
High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh government to
produce before it the records pertaining to the appointment of
Justice S R Mishra Commission to inquire into the Taj
Expressway project.

A division bench, comprising Justice Jagadish Bhalla and
Justice P K Chatterjee, passed the order on a writ petition
filed by Jai Prakash Industries Ltd, challenging the
appointment of the commission to inquire into the award of
contract for the Taj Expressway project and find out lapses or
irregularity, if any.

Jai Prakash Industries was awarded the contract for
building the Taj Expressway by the then Mayawati government
allegedly without following norms.

It was pleaded by the company that the action of the
state government was "wholly illegal, arbitrary,
discriminatory, malafide, contemptuous, bad in law and without
any basis".
