India lists five areas for enhanced cooperation with Romania

New Delhi, Jan 31: India today sought enhanced bilateral co-operation with Romania in five core areas of energy, information technology, power, Pharma and heavy engineering and said trade between the two countries was below potential at present.

technology, power, Pharma and heavy engineering and said trade
between the two countries was below potential at present.

Speaking at a business meeting in the honour of Romanian
President Ion Iliescu, Minister of State for External Affairs Vinod
Khanna said Romania should be an important destination for Indian
businessmen, especially as the country was set to join the European
Union in 2007.

The Romanian president also agreed with Mr Khanna and said Indian
businessmen should participate aggressively in the modernisation of
the Eastern European nation.

''Our economy is growing at five per cent and the inflation
levels are also falling.

Mr Iliescu also spoke about the economic reforms in his country
after the Romanian revolution.
