New Delhi: An Indo-German Max Planck
Centre on Computer Science, where collaborative basic research
between Indian and German scientists will be carried out, was
on Wednesday inaugurated here in the IIT campus.
It was inaugurated by Science and Technology Minister
Prithviraj Chavan along with visiting German President Horst
Koehler.
The centre of excellence will support research areas
on algorithms and complexity, database and information
retrieval, graphics and vision and networking among others,
said an official release.
It will also engage researchers from institutes like
Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Mumbai, IITs and from
Max Planck Institute for informatics, Saarbruecken, Germany.
