Lucknow, July 30: A day after retracting on her demand to dismiss Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today convened a meeting of her party MLAs apprising them of the Taj heritage corridor controversy and asking them to prepare for elections at any time.
The controversy has been raked up by the detractors who were "scared of the rising popularity graph of the BSP", especially after the recent review meetings held all over the state, she told the legislature party meeting here.
Mayawati asked the BSP MLAs to remain prepared for elections at any time, party sources said.
The chief minister expressed her displeasure over the "lack of support" from the coalition partners in parliament when the Taj issue was raised by the opposition.
The Ayodhya issue was not allowed to be taken up in the Lok Sabha on the grounds that it was pending with the CBI whereas the Taj corridor issue, also pending with the CBI, was allowed to be taken up, she said.
The demand for dismissal of Jagmohan was withdrawn only after an assurance from Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani that they would look into the complaints, Maywati maintained.
Copies of the letter sent to the Prime Minister in this regard were distributed to the legislators, the sources said, adding another meeting of BSP MPs, MLAs and coordinators would be held on August 6.
