Patna, Nov 23: In view of the unabated violence against people from Bihar in Assam and other north-eastern states, the Bihar Motor Transport Federation has decided against sending trucks to the area.

Upendra Sharma told that the decision was taken after four
innocent truck drivers were killed at Nalbari in Assam.
Trucks carrying essential items will not go to Assam and
other northeastern states till normalcy returns, they said
adding the decision was taken at an emergency meeting this
morning.
They said the Federation had apprised the Centre and
Chief Ministers of Bihar and Assam about its decision.
Sharma said the Assam government would lose an estimated
Rs 34 lakh per day on account of entry tax as around 4,000
trucks enter its borders from Bihar everyday. The Assam
government charges rs 850 from each truck as entry fee.
The decision would also affect traders of Bihar dealing
in food items, they said.
A report from Coochbehar district in West Bengal said a
large number of trucks from Bihar were waiting at Baxirhat on
the Bengal-Assam border after the killing of four Bihari truck
drivers in Dhubri district in assam last Tuesday.
However, district magistrate Chandan Sinha said the
trucks had started entering Dhubri in a convoy after police
assured their safety.
