Dev Patel keen to become next Jason Bourne

Melbourne: Dev Patel says he wants to break out of the “Indian” mould and use his martial arts expertise to tackle the action genre.

The 21-year-old actor rose to fame with the Oscar winning ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and is currently dating Freida Pinto, his co-star in the film. “I find it hard trying to get casting directors to be colour blind for me and think outside the box,” the Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying. “(Being Indian) is a blessing and a curse; not only does it make me original and set me apart from the pack, it also boxes me in to a very fine space and I’m trying to avoid the cliches. “I’m not quite sure about Superman or James Bond, but I’d love to be a Bourne Ultimatum-y kind of actor,” he said.
