Several "pirated" cassettes seized from Azhagiri's shop

Madurai, June 16: Police today seized over 1400 video and audio cassettes during a raid on a shop owned by DMK leader M K Azhagiri in the city and took into custody an employee of the shop.

Mohan, the inspector in charge of Video Piracy Prevention Cell, who raided the shop a day after the same shop was searched for possible evidence in the murder of the senior DMK
leader T Kiruttinan, said there were many pirated cassettes and they had taken into custody an employee.

A total of 740 video and 710 audio cassettes had been seized in presence of revenue officials and an advocate of Azhagiri, police said.

According to an official, the raid was conducted under the Video Piracy Act.
Azhagiri, elder son of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, was arrested on May 21 for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy to murder former minister Kiruttinan the previous
day.
