Moscow, Nov 11: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is to make an official three-day visit to Moscow starting today, Indian diplomatic sources in the Russian capital said.
Vajpayee, who will be making his second visit to Russia this year, will be accompanied by a delegation of Indian businessmen.
India is Russia`s traditional ally in southern Asia, and the two countries have resumed cooperation in the nuclear power sphere following a visit by President Vladimir Putin to
New Delhi in October 2000.
Moscow is to deliver two nuclear reactors to India under a contract worth some 1.5 billion dollars.
Russian media, quoting embassy sources, said that Indian commercial banks were expected to begin operating in Russia by the end of the year, with Russian banks opening offices in India soon.
Russian companies are seeking investment projects in India, particularly in the area of infrastructure, Interfax quoted the sources as saying.
Vajpayee visited Russia in late May as part of the celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg.
