Srinagar, Feb 08: The Hurriyat Conference on Friday denied receiving any funds from Pakistan and termed the arrest of its spokesman and one of its woman activists as politically motivated.

Hurriyat Chairman Abdul Gani Bhattt, who made a hasty return here from his native village in North Kashmir, told reporters that the Hurriyat had never received any money from Pakistan "covertly or overtly."

Demanding an impartial probe into the incident, Bhatt said the money received from Hurriyat's office in New Delhi was meant for running day-to-day activities in the national capital.

The Delhi Police, on an intelligence tip-off arrested Anjum Zamrooda Habib, chief of Muslim Khawateen Markaz, a constituent of the Hurriyat and recovered Rs 3.07 lakh, which she claimed had been handed over to her by Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner Jaleel Abbas Gilani for passing on to some militant outfit.

The Delhi Police also raided the Hurriyat office in South Delhi and arrested its spokesman Shabir Ahmed Dar besides recovering Rs two lakh and some incriminating documents from him.
