AAP dares rebel leader Dharamvira Gandhi to resign as MP

Chandigarh: A day after suspended AAP MP Dharamvira Gandhi announced his intention to float a 'Punjab-centric new front,' Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday asked him to resign as MP on 'moral grounds'.

"Everybody has the right to float a political outfit and contest polls. But Gandhi should resign from the party and as MP on moral ground as he became MP on AAP ticket. He should recontest the polls. It is a question of morality," AAP's Punjab-unit chief Jarnail Singh said.

Claiming that Gandhi had sought the party to expel him, Singh said the party will initiate further action only after Gandhi resigns as an MP.

However, Gandhi has ruled out his resignation and said he neither has any intention of forming a political outfit nor joining another party.

Addressing AAP's future plans in the poll-bound state, Singh said Kejriwal will start spending 'substantial time' in Punjab starting next month.
