Kolkata: In a merger of the reel and real, the salesman-turned-millionaire protagonist of Anik Duta`s modern day fantasy tale `Aschorjo Pradeep` hosted a party at a swank south Kolkata night club attended by a reel super-model and real-life celebs, familiar in party circuits last evening.
"It is a party scene hosted by Saswata Chatterjee`s character who has turned a millionaire after finding the magic lamp and getting the three boons of the genie. Here while he gets to meet the super model, he also feels like having `arrived` on the party scene by mingling with the people he had seen on big and small screen, actors and celebrities who are regular in party circuits," the ‘Bhooter Bhabisyot’ director said.
"The film had progressed the way I had envisaged. For one it could be a multi-layered story bearing references to the modern consumerist society in a non-preachy manner, for another it could be just a straight and simple narrative drawing references from the story on Aladin and his magic lamp and adapted from a Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay short story," director Dutta said.
"And I am happy the way the shooting has been executed. Things have progressed as we and the film unit members had wanted it to be. Most parts of the shoot have been done and Aschorjo Prodip would be more linear than Bhooter Bhabisyot, not having so much punning may be.
"I am here basically as one party regular also attending the get-together hosted by Saswata`s character. And I don`t know when my shot was taken. Anikda asked all of us to chat and not look towards camera," popular singer Paroma said.
"I am the ambitious wife of the salesman`s character who had so long been unhappy with his way of life till the wheels turned and now I am on the side of my screen husband at the party," actor Srilekha Mitra, also a known face in a popular reality show, said.
The film is a take on the commercial and consumerist trends in society in which Dutta insists that no value judgement has been tried.
