Islamabad, July 15: Sri Lankan foreign minister
Tyronne Fernando arrived here today on a three-day visit aimed
to cool the Indo-Pak tensions.
Fernando will hold talks with minister of state for
foreign affairs Inam-ul Haq on the tense stand-off between
India and Pakistan and the entire gamut of bilateral issues
including the forthcoming visit of President Pervez Musharraf
to Lanka, officials here said.
A report from Colombo earlier said Fernando, engaged in a
shuttle diplomacy to ease tensions between the South Asian
neighbours, will deliver a message from his Indian
counterpart, Yashwant Sinha, to Inam-ul Haq.
"The Indian foreign minister requested me to convey it to
Pakistan that although the cross border terrorism has
decreased, militant training camps are still operating,"
officials quoted Fernando as saying before his departure to
Islamabad.
India has denied that any request was made to Sri Lanka
to carry any message to Pakistan on India's behalf.
Pakistan, officials said will also apprise Fernando of
efforts to ease the tension and resolve all the issues with
India through dialogue.
