Dhaka, June 26: Police detectives arrested a Sudanese national studying medicine in Bangladesh for suspected links to the al-Qaida terrorist network, news reports said today.
Police picked up the 30-year-old student late yesterday from his dormitory room at Dhaka's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, reported two dailies quoting unidentified police officials.
Police were not immediately available to confirm the arrest and it was unclear whether the man had been charged.
The detainee moved into the dormitory for foreign students last November, the newspapers reported without providing further details.

Muslim-majority Bangladesh is a partner in the US-led campaign against international terrorism and in recent months the predominantly Muslim nation has arrested more than a dozen militants from banned Islamic groups.
