New Delhi: The DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam) on Sunday broke into two parties.
The new party, which is the PDMDK (People Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam) will be headed by MLA V.C. Chandrakumar.
In a setback for actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth's DMDK, 10 district secretaries and five lawmakers of the party had earlier said aligning with the Makkal Nala Kootani (MNK) or the People Welfare Front (PWF) for the upcoming state elections in Tamil Nadu was a bad decision.
DMDK's propaganda secretary and lawmaker Chandrakumar had said that the decision to align with MNK (People Welfare Front) was taken without consulting officer bearers and party cadre.
Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on May 16 while the results will be announced on May 19.
