Varanasi: A student was roughed up at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) here shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his speech at the varsity's convocation function.
The student, reportedly identified as Ashutosh Singh, raised slogans demanding revival of the students' union soon after the PM finished his speech.
Shortly after, he was hit on the face from someone standing behind him.
As per reports, the man who slapped Singh is an ABVP leader.
CNN-IBN reported that Singh has been detained by Varanasi Police.
