Another victim of short-ball by Australians. Mitchell collected his third wicket. Indian run-rate is just below five runs per over, their six batsmen are back in the pavilion. And at the moment both the CSK teammates are at the crease – R Ashwin and MSD. RA Jadeja c Haddin b Johnson 2 (4b) ==================================================================================== Over 30|| Score 150/5 On one end if Kohli has started changing gears then on the other skipper MSD is playing sensibly and giving more strike to Kohli. India haven’t scored a boundary for more than five overs. In the 21st over India crossed the mark of 100 runs as Doherty gave five runs from his over. Dhoni is still limping while running between the wickets, which is not a good sign for India, who have already lost four wickets. In the next two, India scored three runs each. Dhoni and Kohli, skipper and his deputy are in the middle. Watson has been reintroduced into the attack in the 24th over. And a poor ball by him and Kohli flicked it fine towards the fine leg boundary for four to collect right runs from the over. Fifty for Virat. And he gave just three runs from his first over. Another change from the other end and its spinner Doherty into the attack. And three singles from the over number seventeen. Now Dhoni and Kohli need to build a partnership here. Faulkner is bowling at a tight line and not giving much room for these two Indian batsmen to score freely and gave three runs from his second over. Though Dhoni played Doherty many times in the past but never scored a boundary off his bowling. Two runs came from the 19th over bowled by the spinner. And in the next over India only managed to score four runs, all came in singles. ==================================================================================== Over 15 || Score 83/4 Hat-trick ball by Johnson but Kohli played it cautiously for a single over mid-wicket. And Dhoni who came in after the fall of Yuvraj’s wicket and was limping while running the first run and umpires called for drinks. ==================================================================================== Over 13 || Score 76/4 Mitchell Johnson has been reintroduced into the attack in the 11th over. Second ball was wide over leg stump. Mitchell is trying short pitched stuff, bowling at a good speed and trying hard to give his team another breakthrough. Three runs came from the over. McKay in bowling a long first spell. In his sixth over he gave just five runs. First ball of next over by Johnson and Raina flicked it towards mid-wicket for a four. Double blow for India Ploy of giving the ball to Johnson worked for the visiting team. He first got the wicket of Raina by a short pitched delivery and then in the very next ball another southpaw in the form of Yuvraj Singh. Johnson is on a hat-trick. Yuvraj Singh c Haddin b Johnson 0 (1b) SK Raina c Watson b Johnson 17 (19b) ==================================================================================== Over 10 || Score 60/2 Suresh Raina has come to the crease after Rohit’s wicket. In the ninth over Kohli first pulled Watson for four and then in the next ball played it towards midwicket area for another four. With this boundary India crossed the mark of 50 runs. In the last ball Raina collected third boundary of the over by playing a cut short over point area to collect 14 runs from the over. In the 10th over by McKay, Kohli played an expensive drive over extra cover for four. Five runs from the over. ==================================================================================== Over 8 || Score 41/2 McKay gave the Australians an early breakthrough and is certainly getting more swing than Johnson. But in the fifth ball of the sixth over Rohit played him over the extra covers for four. With two singles and a four, six runs came from the over. Shane Watson has been introduced into the attack by the Bailey in the seventh over. Third ball was a wide from Watson. Rohit OUT. A short ball from Watson and Rohit tried to hit it for a six over mid wicket but only managed to get a thick edge and the ball went high in the air, after running few steps Finch took a simple catch. Rohit got out after scoring 11 runs. So both the Indian openers are back in the pavilion before 10 overs. Kohli in the 8th over lashes MaKay for a four over cover reign for his third boundary. Four runs came from the over. RG Sharma c Finch b Watson 11 (22b) ==================================================================================== Over 5 || Score 29/1 Virat Kohli came to the crease after the fall of first Indian wicket. Johnson is bowling at a tight line. And gave just one run from the third over of the innings. From the fourth over India collected six runs. In the fifth over Kohli collected two back-to-back boundaries off Johnson in the first two balls. A sheer master class from Kohli. Both the boundaries came over cover region. Eight runs from the over. ==================================================================================== Over 2 || Score 14/1 McKay is sharing the new ball with Johnson. First ball on leg stump clipped off Dhawan’s pad and gone for four over fine leg. First boundary for India. In the next ball Dhawan played a cracker over extra cover for four. In the fourth ball he flicked the ball over mid-wicket for another boundary. Dhawan OUT. A big blow for India. Dhawan tried to play a back of length delivery which was angling across towards the off side but only managed to get a thin outside edge and Hidden took a simple catch off McKay. S Dhawan c Haddin b McKay 8 (6b ) ==================================================================================== Over 1 || Score 2/0 First ball and it was big wide at the off stump. But the next one was right on the money, almost a yorker. Once again Mitchell is bowling at a speed of 140 plus. And the fourth ball was a cracker one, a well directed short pitched ball at a speed of 147. Two wides from the over. ==================================================================================== Both the Indian openers – Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma -- are at the crease. Mitchell Johnson is ready to start the proceedings for Australia. ==================================================================================== Australian seamers might get some help from the pitch early on. So it would be interesting to see whether the Indian openers will thrash the Aussie attack once again or the Australian bowlers will have the upper hand this time around. The seven match series is equally poised at the moment as both the teams have won one match each. ==================================================================================== This is the same ground where Shikhar Dhawan have played his debut Test match against Australia and scored a big hundred (187 runs). And after the blistering knock of 95 run in the last match he would be high on confidence. And same goes for Rohit Sharma as well who will come to open the Indian innings in the third ODI here. ==================================================================================== Bailey won the toss and elected to bowl first. Both the teams have stuck with the same squad, which means no changes. Dhoni one again showed enough confidence on his bowlers. ==================================================================================== Indian bowlers have been so far at the receiving end in the series and it’s not just because the Australian batsmen are playing well on Indian tracks but also because Indian bowlers – especially seamers – have failed badly to stick to the basics. Apart from Vinay and Ishant even the strike bowler Bhuveshwar Kumar is also struggling to provide India some early breakthroughs. ==================================================================================== Australia has a good track record here in Mohali. Out of the five matches they played here they lost just once, which means their winning percentage is over 80. But these things don’t matter much once both the teams come to ground. Mohali track is placid one which means lot of runs on offer. ==================================================================================== On a high after a sensational performance in Jaipur, a supremely confident India will look to keep the momentum going with another dominating display when they they take on a shell-shocked Australian team in the third cricket ODI today.
