Lawyers` stir: Framing of charges against BSP men deferred

Charges in a criminal case against 12 BSP members, including party MP Kadir Rana, could not be framed today due to the on-going lawyers` strike.

against 12 BSP members, including party MP Kadir Rana, could not be framed today due to the on-going lawyers` strike.

Additional District Magistrate SR Banerji fixed September 30 for the framing of charges while asking all accused to be present in the court that day.

A case of rioting was filed against the BSP members,
including MP from Kanpur Kadir Rana, in 2004 while they were protesting in front of the District Magistrate residence.

According to the prosecution, several policemen were
injured and many police posts set afire allegedly by the BSP members during a protest.

Meanwhile, judicial work remained affected for the fifth
day today as lawyers here boycotted courts against the
Allahabad HC`s administrative order of increasing working hours of the courts.
