SP and Centre's intentions unclear on cane dues payment: Ajit

Alleging inaction on the part of the ruling Samajwadi party government in the state and BJP at the Centre regarding payment of cane dues to farmers, former Union Minister and RLD chief Ajit Singh has said that intentions of both the governments are not clear regarding this.

Bagpath: Alleging inaction on the part of the ruling Samajwadi party government in the state and BJP at the Centre regarding payment of cane dues to farmers, former Union Minister and RLD chief Ajit Singh has said that intentions of both the governments are not clear regarding this.

"Even if a single sugar mill owner was sent to jail, other mill owners had not only made the payment of cane dues, but they would have also hiked the cane price", he said.

Ajit, while talking to reporters here, said it is unfair to farmers that the state advisory prices had not been hiked.

The Rashtriya Lok Dal chief further attacked the Centre saying that the BJP came to power on the promise of brining back black money stashed abroad and "acche din", but they have now changed their tone on these issues.

"As far as good days are concerned, they might have come for the BJP leaders, but the common people are still waiting for it," he further added.
