Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee was on Friday sworn-in as Chief Minister of West Bengal for a second term in the presence of a galaxy of political heavyweights including Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Kolkata Mayor Shovan Chatterjee, former Indian cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla and singer Indranil Sen are among the 17 new faces in the 42-member ministry.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee was on Friday sworn-in as Chief Minister of West Bengal for a second term in the presence of a galaxy of political heavyweights including Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Kolkata Mayor Shovan Chatterjee, former Indian cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla and singer Indranil Sen are among the 17 new faces in the 42-member ministry.

-The swearing-in ceremony ends with the National Anthem.

-Lakhiratan Shukla, Zakir Hossin, Indranil Sen Shyamal Santra took oath as Ministers of State.

-Ashish Bandhopadhyay, James Kujur, Tapan Dasgupta also took oath.

 

 

-Next batch to take oath included: ministers of state (Independent Charge)- Swapan Debnath, Sashi Panja, Siddikulaah Chowdhury and Ashima Patra.

-Purnendhu Basu, Rabindranath Ghosh, Arup Roy Shantiram Mahato, Bratya Basu, Chandranath Singh, Soumen Mahapatra, Rajeeb Bandhopadhyay, Churamani Mahato and Malay Ghatak also took oath.

-Ministers Abdur Rezzak Molla, Suvendu Adhikari, Sadhan Pandey and Jyotipriya Malkik followed them.

-Ministers Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Javed Khan, Sovan Chatterjee and Gouam Deb took oath afterwards.

-First to take oath were: Amit Mitra, Partha Chatterjee, Abani Jowardar, and Sovandeb Chatterjee.

-Her council of ministers include five Minister of States (Independent Charge) and 8 MoS.

-Union Minister Babul Supriyo, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav seen chatting at Mamata Banerjee's oath ceremony.

 

-Also seen are Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok G Raju, FM Arun Jaitley and Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay at Mamata Banerjee's oath ceremony.

-Apart from Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who is already in the city, Bangladesh Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Union ministers Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Babul Supriyo, Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal (Delhi), Akhilesh Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah are likely to attend the event.

-Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and OM Puri are among the 140 VVIPs who will be present.

-A stage the size of a tennis court, a huge air-conditioned VIP lounge to host VVIP guests, a green landscaped garden and a fountain right in front of the stage have been set up for the grand event.

-The West Bengal government has made massive arrangements to make the oath ceremony a grand affair.

-Along with Mamata, 41 legislators will also take oath today - 18 of them are new faces.

-Banerjee said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Minister Babul Supriyo, Bangladesh Industry Minister, Bhutan Prime Minister, Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav have confirmed their presence in the ceremony.

 

 

-Banerjee met state Governor KN Tripathi yesterday and submitted the list of MLAs who will take oath today at the swearing-in ceremony to be held at Kolkata's famous Red Road, an arterial link road.

-This is for the first time that a chief minister will take oath on Red Road.
