Kolkata: Districts of Gangetic West Bengal on Friday sizzled under severe heatwave conditions with Bankura recording the highest temperature at 45.1 degrees Celsius.

After recording below 40 degrees Celsius for a couple of days, the metropolis, part of which will vote in the fifth phase of polling tomorrow, is once again back to 40 plus mercury mark at 40.4 degrees, five degrees above normal.
