Gibson expecting Samuels, Shillingford to overcome bowling action setback

West Indies cricket coach Ottis Gibson has said that he has no doubts that spinners Shane Shillingford and Marlon Samuels will overcome the latest setback over their bowling actions, according to reports.

Sydney: West Indies cricket coach Ottis Gibson has said that he has no doubts that spinners Shane Shillingford and Marlon Samuels will overcome the latest setback over their bowling actions, according to reports.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the International Cricket Council has suspended Shillingford from bowling in international matches after independent biomechanical testing found his elbow bent too much when delivering his standard off-break and his doosra.
The ICC also ruled that Samuels would be allowed to continue to bowl his standard off-breaks, but his quicker deliveries exceeded the 15-degree tolerance and are considered illegal, the report said. Gibson said that the pair will receive the full support of team management and the West Indies Cricket Board. Gibson also said a plan would be put in place in the New Year to rehabilitate the pair`s bowling actions. Meanwhile, the ICC decisions mean Shillingford, who took six wickets at 42.66 in the first two Tests against New Zealand, is ruled out of the series finale beginning in Hamilton on Thursday, the report added. He will return to the Caribbean as scheduled after the match, the report further said.
