Chile: No damage, injuries in 5.1-magnitude quake

Santiago: A 5.1-magnitude temblor has
shaken awake residents of Chile`s capital, but no damage or
injuries have been reported.

The US Geological Survey reports that the earthquake
occurred today at 4:28 am local time, or 1258 IST. It was
centered in the Chile`s metropolitan region, at a depth of
66.7 kilometres.

The University of Chile`s seismological service measured
the quake as stronger, with a 5.3 magnitude.

The Chilean government`s National Emergency Office says
no injuries or damage have been reported, and basic services
have not been affected.
