Ferry capsizes on Lake Victoria: Kenya Red Cross

Nairobi: A passenger ferry has capsized on east Africa`s Lake Victoria, the Kenyan Red Cross said Wednesday.

A spokesman said the boat, which was travelling in Kenya`s part of the vast inland lake, struck a fishing boat in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The Red Cross gave no immediate reports of casualties but said they had sent a response team.

Kenya`s Daily Nation newspaper quoted fisherman as saying nine people had died, while police said they had reports of two dead.
