Khatami's envoy arrives with letter for PM

New Delhi, Jan 17: Ahead of his visit to India later this month, Iranian President Sayed Mohammad Khatami has sent a letter to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee highlighting the potential for long-term economic tie-ups between the two countries.

New Delhi, Jan 17: Ahead of his visit to India later this month, Iranian President Sayed Mohammad Khatami has sent a letter to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee highlighting the potential for long-term economic tie-ups between the two countries.

The letter was handed over today by Iranian deputy foreign minister Adeli who came as a special envoy of Khatami. It underlined the high expectations of the visit and the prospects of long-term economic cooperation between India and Iran.
Khatami, who will be the chief guest at this year's Republic Day celebrations, will hold wide-ranging discussions with the Prime Minister on the entire gamut of bilateral relations besides exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Adeli called on external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha, Prime Minister's principal secretary Brajesh Mishra and foreign secretary Kanwal Sibal preparing the ground for the
Iranian leader's visit.
