The king of soccer now has a daughter in politics. Sandra Machado Arantas Do Nascimento - Pele's daughter -
was elected on Sunday to the City Council of Santos, home of soccer club that her father made famous in 1950s and 60s.
Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes Nascimento,
refused to recognise Machado as his daughter until a DNA test proved it and a court entitled her to use his surname. She still is seeking a hefty financial settlement.
During her campaign, she promised that if elected she would propse a law requiring the city to pay DNA testing for children not recognised by their parents.
