Polls open in Sweden`s general election

Stockholm: Polls opened Sunday in Sweden`s general election, in which the Social Democrats are predicted to return to power after eight years in opposition while the anti-immigrant far right is also expected to make major gains.

If the opinion polls prove right, Stefan Loefven would become the next prime minister of the Nordic region`s largest country, replacing incumbent Fredrik Reinfeldt of the centre-right Moderates.
