Washington, Oct 07: US Democratic Senator Bob
Graham of Florida announced late yesterday he had decided to
drop out of the US presidential race.

"I have made the difficult decision to withdraw my
candidacy for President of the United States of America," the
Senator said, appearing on a television programme.

He said he was abandoning the race "because I have
made the judgement that I cannot be elected President of the
United States."

A veteran Washington politician, Graham had trouble
getting traction for his campaign, which featured
increasingly sharp criticism of President George W Bush`s
Iraq policies and what he saw as the administration`s failure
to stop job losses in the sluggish US economy.

The latest opinion polls showed him near the rear of
the pack of 10 Democratic candidates, with a media survey giving him three percent support among
US Democrats.
