Two Iranian journalists briefly held after Baghdad bombing

Tehran, Jan 18: US forces in Baghdad today briefly detained two journalists working for Iranian state television following a suicide bombing at the front gate of the US headquarters in the Iraqi capital, state media in Iran reported.

A report on state television said the two detained including the Baghdad bureau chief of the Islamic Republic of
Iran Broadcasting (Irib), Gholamreza Kouchak.

"The two journalists went to the scene of the explosion to cover it, and were arrested by US troops. They
were released shortly afterwards," an Irib official told mediapersons,

Last July, two reporters were arrested near Baghdad and only released after four months' detention there.
The two claimed they were subjected to "severe torture" while in American custody.
