Washington, Dec 10: The US State Department
warned its citizens of possible danger if they travel to
Bangladesh, a statement said.

"The US government has recently received information
regarding several possible threats against the US Embassy in
Dhaka and other US interests in Bangladesh," it said
yesterday.

"American citizens in Bangladesh should remain
vigilant, particularly in public places frequented by
foreigners, including but not limited to hotels, restaurants,
shopping areas, and places of worship."
"They also should avoid demonstrations and large
crowds."

It did recommend us travelers consult the state
department consular information sheet and register with the
Embassy in Dhaka.

In July, the US Embassy in Dhaka issued a bleaker
warning of unconfirmed threats against US officials and
"terrorists" who may target facilities where us citizens
congregate.

Yesterday's warning mentioned neither threats nor
terrorism.
