'Porn star' Sunny Leone's vulgar condom advt is no art: Atul Anjan

New Delhi: Facing flak for allegedly saying that condom advertisements by Sunny Leone promote rapes in the country, senior CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan, Thursday, said that he was not against propagation of family planning methods but was only speaking against the vulgar advertisement featuring the porn star turned Bollywood actress.

“I am for all sorts of family planning approaches but will you allow vulgarisation in the name of art and culture?” Anjan said in an interview to a news channel.

“I have spoken against the vulgarity of the advertisement. I am not against condom. I am against the advertisement made by Sunny Leone,” he added.

Referring to Leone as the number one pornographic star of the world, Anjan said the advertisement was not suitable for being aired on TV. “Can you sit before the TV with your daughter and see it?” he said.

Yesterday, during a rally in Uttar Pradesh, Anjan was quoted as saying, “There is a woman Sunny Leone. She has worked in many nude films. There is an ad - she's lying down and one man is coming to her. It's a condom ad. If they are shown everywhere on TV and newspapers, rape incidents will increase."

Anjan said that such ads develop sexuality and destroys sensibility. The Communist leader said he had never watched a single porn film in his life, and when he did watch porn for the first time, he felt like vomiting after watching it for two minutes.
