Aishwarya, Jaya Bachchan attend Shammi aunty's prayer meet

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan attended veteran actress Shammi aunty's prayer meet (Chautha) today.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with her mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan on Thursday attended the prayer meet (Chautha) of veteran actress Shammi, fondly known as Shammi aunty.

Amitabh Bachchan also spoke about the fond memories he had of the veteran actress. He posted on Twitter, "T 2735 – Shammi Aunty. prolific actress, years of contribution to the Industry, dear family friend. passes away! A long suffered illness, age. Sad. slowly slowly they all go away."

The actress died after prolonged illness at her home late on Monday, a family friend reportedly said. Nargis Rabadi, popularly known as 'Shammi Aunty' in the industry, died late on March 6. She was 87 years old.

She mostly featured in comic roles such as 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' and 'Zabaan Sambhal Ke'. She also starred in films like 'Coolie No. 1', 'Mardon Wali Baat', 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' and 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi'.
