New Delhi: On November 28, 2017, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan was conferred with the Indian film personality of the year award winner at the 48th IFFI held in Panaji, Goa.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani presented the award to Mr Bachchan.
Here's what she said-
"There was one incident in his lifetime at AIR, when he went for auditioning and he was rejected. Therefore it is logical today and it is our good fortune, that the same Ministry, from this dais, on behalf of the government of India, on behalf of every India, on behalf of every film fan, you are being awarded,"

The award presented to Big B included a silver peacock, a certificate and scroll and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
Upon receiving the award, Amitabh said-
"I have always felt that my respect and regard for the Indian film industry has rested in the presence that the film industry has had in our world. When we sit inside a darkened hall, we never ask for caste, creed, colour or the religion of the person sitting next to us is,"
