New Delhi: The one and only showman of Bollywood, late actor-director Raj Kapoor made a significant contribution to the world of Hindi cinema and is seen as one of the pioneers of progressive work on celluloid.

On his 93rd birth anniversary, granddaughters Karisma Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni took to Instagram and shared adorable rare pictures. Lolo captioned the picture with beautiful lines which read, “We remember you with so much love.. #myfirstdance#grandfatherlove#mydadaji.”

Riddhima, on the other hand, shared a throwback picture of herself and Ranbir Kapoor sitting comfortably on Raj Kapoor's lap. Her caption read, "Miss you always - shine brightest wherever you are #grandfather.”

The legendary showman was born on December 14, 1924 and breathed his last on June 2, 1988. The noted film personality was awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 1971 for his contributions to the arts. He was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1987 by the Government of India.

Besides, Raj Kapoor received several awards and accolades including 3 National Film Awards, 11 Filmfare Awards and 21 nominations. His films Awaara (1951) and Boot Polish (1954) were nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

His powerful act in 'Awaara' was rated as one of the "Top-Ten Performances of all time" by Time Magazine.

The veteran star's 'Jagte Raho' (1956) also won the Crystal Globe award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
