New Delhi: The ill-fated Pakistan International Airlines plane (PIA) crashed on December 7, 2016, with 47 people on board. The deadly plane crash took place near hilly area near the garrison town of Abbottabad while on its way to the capital, reportedly.

According to PTI, popular Pakistani singer-turned-Islamic preacher Junaid Jamshed was on board ATR plane PK-661 with 47 people. The plane crashed near Havelian while en route to Islamabad from Chitral in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

The singer had a huge list of hit numbers to his credit. Before venturing into music, Jamshed worked as a civilian contractor and engineer for the Pakistan Air Force.

Jamshed was 52-year-old. According to Dawn.com, the Islamic preacher was accompanied by his wife Nahya Junaid on board.
