New Delhi: The real-life example of the phrase 'living life king size' is Hugh Hefner- founder of the iconic magazine, Playboy.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on April 9, 1926, Hugh was indeed a daring man with a thinking that was ahead of his time. He founded the magazine, Playboy, which featured nude women at such a time when sex was a taboo and talking about it was forbidden.
But where did he start his journey from? What is his family like and what led a normal American to be a multimillionaire? If these are the questions coming up in your mind, below is all you need to know!
Hugh was born as the first child of Grace Caroline and Glenn Lucius Hefner. Both his parents were teachers and belonged to Nebraska, a state that lies in the Great Plains as well as the Midwestern United States. His younger brother Keith died in 2016 after battling cancer.
It was in the year 1949 that Hugh got married to Mildred Williams. The couple had two children, one daughter named Christie and a son named David. Hugh ultimately faced 'the most devastating moment' of his life as he called it when Mildred confessed that she had an affair while Hugh served in the army. According to a 2006 E! True Hollywood Story profile of Hugh, Mildred allowed him to have sexual relations with other women out of her guilt as well as in hope that it would save her marriage.
However, this did not happen as the couple got divorced in the year 1959.
In the year 1989, Hugh married Kimberley Conrad and had two sons with her -Marston Glenn Hefner and Cooper Bradford Hefner. The couple separated after nine years but remained nominally married for the sake of their children.
However, in the year 2010, Hugh filed for divorce and the couple formally divorced in March 2010.
Crystal Harris became Hugh's third wife, the couple was married in the year 2012. Crystal is now Hugh's widow as he breathed his last on the night of September 27, 2017.
Hugh promoted a lifestyle that most men dream of, that of enjoying 'all the good things in life'. Along with finding the magazine Playboy in the year 1953, he also hosted two TV shows which were Playboy's Penthouse(1959–1960) and Playboy After Dark (1969–1970).
The first issue of Playboy magazine sold over 50,000 copies.
He was known for his home- Playboy Mansion. What's so special about a normal home? Well, the very fact that it wasn't a normal home at all!
Hugh's Playboy Mansion was a hotspot during the 1970s owing to the lavish parties that took place there.
Owing to Hugh's immense love interests, the mansion had a group of young women that kept on changing. He dated women like Tina Marie Jordan, Brande Roderick, Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson to name a few. What's interesting is the fact that Hugh dated as many as 7 women at the same time, reports suggest.
