Nobody can ever take legendary actress Shakila's place as the diva of early 50s in Indian cinema. Choosing her films wisely and appearing in movies with some of the best actors of yesteryears, Shakila was aptly known as 'Fairy Queen of Indian Fantasies' by many.

Shakila had appeared in a number of blockbuster films such as C.I.D (1956), Hatim Tai (1956) Shahenshah (1953), China Town 1962) and Jhansi Ki Rani (1956) to name a few. She began her illustrious career in 1949 with 'Duniya'.

The actress married Johny Barber (an NRI film distributor) in 1963 after which she quit the cinema world and moved to the UK to live with her husband. Shakila and Johny had a daughter named Meenaz who committed suicide in 1991.

According to reports, Shakila died of a massive heart attack on the evening of September 20, 2017.

The void created by her death can be filled by none, but this yesteryear beauty will continue to live in our hearts forever.

May her soul rest in peace!
