Tom Alter's death creates a void, condolence messages throng Twitter
The legendary actor Tom Alter succumbed to cancer and passed away at 67. He was reportedly diagnosed with skin cancer last year and was treated for the same but earlier this month he suffered a relapse and was admitted in Saifee hospital.

New Delhi: The legendary actor Tom Alter succumbed to cancer and passed away at 67. He was reportedly diagnosed with skin cancer last year and was treated for the same but earlier this month he suffered a relapse and was admitted in Saifee hospital.
The veteran breathed his last at Mumbai residence on the night of September 29, 2017. His family released a statement saying, "It is with sadness we announce the death of Tom Alter, actor, writer, director, Padma Shri, and our dear husband and father. Tom passed away Friday night at home with his family and close family members in attendance. We ask for their privacy to be respected at this time”, as per PTI.
Alter's last rites have been performed today afternoon at the Worli crematorium and memorial service will be held either on Tuesday or Wednesday reportedly. The entire film and the cricketing world is hit hard with this heart-breaking news and some of them took to Twitter to extend condolences. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed their grief over the sudden demise of the thespian.

Alter's last film happened to be Sargoshiyan with Alok Nath and Farida Jalal. The film released in May this year. Alter is survived by his wife Carol, son Jamie, and daughter Afshaan.
