Rajinikanth's next film to star Deepika Padukone? Here's the truth

New Delhi: Megastar Rajinikanth is literally idolised by his fans, such is the power of his screen presence. The Thalaiva has a massive fan following who eagerly await his releases every year. So, for any actress to work with him is a lifetime opportunity none would ever miss.

Recently, it was reported that filmmaker Pa Ranjith would make a grand venture with the Thalaiva. And the name for the leading lady was being speculated upon as well.

Now, it was even said that Deepika Padukone might star in the yet-to-be-titled venture. However, the filmmaker has now quashed all such rumours. In a Twitter chat, the director replied to a user on Friday evening, saying that the news about Deepika being cast in his next project is untrue.

Earlier, it was rumoured that Radhika Apte was being considered for the same role. Ranjith and Rajinikanth reunite after last year's Tamil blockbuster 'Kabali'.

While the genre of the film remains a mystery, what is known is that Dhanush will be bankrolling the project. It is believed that the film will go on the floors from later this year.
