2nd ODI: Bangladesh vs India - As it happened...

New Delhi: At Mirpur, Bangladesh thrash India by six wickets to take the unassailable lead of 2-0 in a three-match series. Tigers created history tonight by winning the first bilateral series against Men in Blue. This is a memorable win for the hosts as it also helped them qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy. Well done Bangladesh!

BANGLADESH

OVERS 38// RUNS 200// WICKETS 4

Shakib Al Hasan hits Axar's first ball for a boundary. And with that shot he completes his fifty as well. 2nd half century in a row for the southpaw. Sabbir Rahman's single off the last ball seals the victory for the Tigers as they beat India by six wickets.

OVERS 37// RUNS 194// WICKETS 4

Sabbir hits two cracking shots off Kulkarni to collect two more boundaries in the 37th over. The medium pacer leaks 11 runs in the over. Bangladesh need 6 runs from 60 balls.

OVERS 35// RUNS 181// WICKETS 4

Sabbir is looking in a hurry to finish off the match. He slaps Kulkarni straight down the ground for a boundary. Bangladesh need 19 runs from 72 balls.

OVERS 33// RUNS 171// WICKETS 4

Now it's just a formality for the Tigers to win the match and seal the series. Outstanding all-round performance by the home team. But their bowlers, specially Rahman, played a big part in the series. Bangladesh need 29 runs from 84 balls.

OVERS 31// RUNS 163// WICKETS 4

Kulkarni is back into the attack. Can India still pull the match away from the jaws of defeat? Shakib gets a lucky boundary off the fourth ball. Expensive over by the medium pacer as he leaks nine runs. Tigers need 37 runs from 16 overs.

OVERS 30// RUNS 154// WICKETS 4

Clever thinking by Dhoni helps India getting the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim as the batsman falls just short of his crease in trying to snatch a 2nd run. Sabbir Rahman is the new man to the crease. In the meanwhile, Bangladesh cross the 150-run mark.

Mushfiqur Rahim run out 31 (34b)

OVERS 28// RUNS 145// WICKETS 3

Premier Bangladesh batsmen Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are at ease in the middle. They are playing each ball according to its merit. Four runs from the over.

OVERS 27// RUNS 141// WICKETS 3

Raina proves expensive in his first over as the part-time bowler concedes eight runs in the over. Bangladesh need 59 runs from 20 overs to win the match.

OVERS 26// RUNS 133// WICKETS 3

Rahim takes Patel by surprise as he hits the bowler for a boundary and a six. Then off the last ball Shakib collects a boundary too. Patel leaks 16 runs in the over.

OVERS 25// RUNS 117// WICKETS 3

Ashwin ends his quota of 10 overs. And the offie once again impressed with his bowling spell - 10-2-32-1.

OVERS 24// RUNS 115// WICKETS 3

Patel has started troubling the batsmen. He is now bowling much slow in the air and pitching the ball in right areas. But India need a couple of more wickets here to put more pressure on the home team.

OVERS 22// RUNS 109// WICKETS 3

Raina drops a tough chance at first slip to send Mushfiqur Rahim back to the pavilion off Patel. In the meantime the home side cross the 100-run mark.

OVERS 20// RUNS 99// WICKETS 3

Axar Patel strikes! Littin Das goes for a drive, only manages a fine edge and gets caught behind. India can still turn the match around.

Litton Das c Dhoni b Patel 36 (41b)

OVERS 18// RUNS 91// WICKETS 2

Patel with his 2nd over. Mushfiqur Rahim cuts the last ball past point fielder to get his first boundary. India can't afford to bowl such loose balls.

OVERS 17// RUNS 86// WICKETS 2

Low bounce helps Ashwin picking up his first wicket as he traps Sarkar in front of the wicket. It's a wicket maiden by the offie. Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man to the crease.

Soumya Sarkar lbw b Ashwin 34 (47b)

OVERS 16// RUNS 86// WICKETS 1

Sarkar welcomes Axar Patel by launching the spinner for a six over deep mid-wicket. Liitin Das joins the party by collecting two boundaries in the over.

OVERS 15// RUNS 71// WICKETS 1

First ball by Ashwin and Littin Das manages to find a gap between leg slip and keeper to get a boundary.

OVERS 14// RUNS 65// WICKETS 1

Jadeja to continue. The left-arm spinner is not at all looking impressive. Both the batsmen are facing no difficulty in playing him and are changing the strikes at regular intervals.

OVERS 13// RUNS 60// WICKETS 1

Sarkar and Littin are playing Ashwin cautiously. They know he is the only Indian bowler who is in form and can turn the tables around.

OVERS 12// RUNS 57// WICKETS 1

Ravindra Jadeja into the attack for the first time. Litton Das welcomes the spinner by slogging him for a boundary towards mid-wicket. Seven from the over.

OVERS 11// RUNS 50 // WICKETS 1

In form Ashwin to back. Another impressive by the offie. In the meanwhile, Bangladesh touch the 50-run mark.

OVERS 10// RUNS 49 // WICKETS 1

Another big appeal goes in favour of the batting side. In replays it's clear that the ball hits Sarkar's helmet and goes to Dhoni. Good umpiring by the filed umpires.

OVERS 9// RUNS 41 // WICKETS 1

Tight over by Kulkarni as he gives mere two runs. Bangladesh need 159 runs from 38 overs to win the match and series.

OVERS 8// RUNS 39 // WICKETS 1

2nd ball and Littin Das hits the bowler towards mid-wicket to get his first boundary. India have to keep picking up wickets if they want to defend the small total.

OVERS 7// RUNS 35 // WICKETS 1

Tamim Iqbal Out! Dhawal Kulkarni provides India the first breakthrough. The southpaw comes down the track to charge the bowler, but only manages a thick outside edge and Dhawan takes a simple catch at first slip. Litton Das is the new man in.

Tamim Iqbal c Dhawan b Kulkarni 13 (21b)

OVERS 6// RUNS 34 // WICKETS 0

Ashwin with his 2nd over. Ashwin is tossing up the ball well in the air, which is making life a bit difficult for the openers. Single from the over.

OVERS 5// RUNS 33 // WICKETS 0

In the 3rd ball, Sarkar hits his 2nd boundary by playing an exclusive cover drive off Bhuvi. India still waiting for the their first breakthrough.

OVERS 4// RUNS 27 // WICKETS 0

MSD introduces R Ashwin into the attack. A good over first up by the offie. And he is getting a bit of turn as well.

OVERS 3// RUNS 24 // WICKETS 0

In the this ball Tamim smashes Bhuvneshwar towards mid-wicket for a boundary. After a gap of one ball, the southpaw, collects another boundary, this time towards square leg.

OVERS 2// RUNS 16 // WICKETS 0

Dhawal Kulkarni with the other new ball. Tamim surviveS. The opener plays a shot straight to Kohli, who takes a sharp catch at long off. But field umpire goes to the third umpire, who gives it a not out. Then comes to one boundary each from the bat of both the openers.

OVERS 1// RUNS 6 // WICKETS 0

Bhuvi leaks six runs in his first over. India have to take wickets at regular intervals to put Bangladesh under pressure.

Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar are in the middle to open the innings for the home side, whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar is set to bowl the opening over.

Update: Due to DLS calculations the target is 199 in 47 overs.

INDIA

OVERS 45// RUNS 200// WICKETS 10

After the match resumed after the rain break, India lost their last two wickets in two overs. The visitors couldn't even manage to play the full quota of 47 overs. Once again the pick among the bowlers was no other than the talented youngster Mustafizur Rahman, who has become the first bowler to pick up 11 wickets in first two ODI matches -- six in this match.

B Kumar c Litton Das b Rubel Hossain 3 (13m 10b)

OVERS 44// RUNS 196// WICKETS 9

First ball after the long rain break and Rahman picks up his sixth wicket. Ravindra Jadeja becomes his sixth victim. Left-arm speedster, who is just 10-year-old, ends his quota with impressive figures of 10-0-43-6. Now match has been reduced to 47 overs a side.

RA Jadeja b Mustafizur Rahman 19 (26b)

OVERS 43.5// RUNS 196// WICKETS 8

Heavy showers stop the match. Once again a poor batting display by the number two ranked ODI team. Youngster Rahman has once again emerged as the strike bowler for the home team.

OVERS 43// RUNS 193// WICKETS 8

19-year-old Rahman picks up his 2nd consecutive five wicket haul by sending R Ashwin back to the pavilion. What a bowler has turned out to be for his country. Now the biggest question is whether India can manage to play the full quota of 50 overs or not.

R Ashwin c Litton Das b Mustafizur Rahman 4 (10b)

OVERS 41// RUNS 182// WICKETS 7

Ashwin and Jadeja are now in the middle for India. It would be interesting to watch how many runs India would manage to score from here onwards.

OVERS 40// RUNS 179// WICKETS 7

Rahman's twin strikes push Indian on to the backfoot. The seamer first rolls his arm to get the better of well set Dhoni and then traps Axar Patel in front of the wicket. But the pacer once again misses a hat-trick.

AR Patel lbw b Mustafizur Rahman 0 (1b)

MS Dhoni c Soumya Sarkar b Mustafizur Rahman 47 (75b)

OVERS 37// RUNS 167// WICKETS 5

Onus now rests on the Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, to give the total some respectability. Tailenders too have to play a crucial role today.

OVERS 36// RUNS 164// WICKETS 5

Another soft dismissal as Raina walks back to the pavilion. The southpaw, tries to play late cut but due to the extra bit of bounce, he only manages to give a simple catch to the wicketkeeper. Rahman honeymoon period still continues. Ravindra Jadeja is the new man to the crease.

SK Raina c Litton Das b Mustafizur Rahman 34 (55b)

OVERS 35// RUNS 162// WICKETS 4

Raina cuts Shakib for a boundary off the third ball. Seven runs come from the over. And with that boundary, Raina-Dhoni added 50-run stand for the fifth wicket.

OVERS 34// RUNS 155// WICKETS 4

Hossain completes his quota with an impressive figures of 10-2-33. The spinner has done the trick for the home side.

OVERS 33// RUNS 152// WICKETS 4

One again both the left-arm spinners -- Hossain and Shakib -- are bowling in tandem. In the meantime India have crossed the 150-runs mark.

OVERS 31// RUNS 147// WICKETS 4

Taskin is bowling too many short bowling. When Raina is around one can expect too many short pitch stuff from the opposition. It means the home side has done their homework quite well.

OVERS 30// RUNS 142// WICKETS 4

Left-arm spinner Nasir Hossain is back into the attack. Runs are not coming easily for the Indian batsmen. Another tight over as four runs comes from it.

OVERS 29// RUNS 138// WICKETS 4

Taskin Ahmed is back into the attack. Raina picks up two runs apiece in the first two balls. Then comes a single from the next. Raina is playing sensible cricket. But at the same time we have to give credit to Bangladesh skipper, Mortaza, who has used his bowlers quite well so far.

OVERS 28// RUNS 132// WICKETS 4

Rubel Hossain, who already has one wicket to his account, is asking difficult questions from both the batsmen. The medium pacer concedes two runs in the over.

OVERS 27// RUNS 130// WICKETS 4

Mortaza is mixing up his deliveries well. In the 4th ball Raina hits the bowlers straight down the ground to collect his 2ng boundary. Five runs from the over.

OVERS 26// RUNS 125// WICKETS 4

Rubel bowls another tight over. Dhoni and Raina are looking in no hurry to score runs and that's the right approach, at least for the moment.

OVERS 25// RUNS 124// WICKETS 4

Mashrafe Mortaza is back into the attack. Disciplined bowling by Bangladeshi bowlers thus far. In the 25th over, Raina, the new man to the crease, survives a big LBW appeal.

OVERS 23// RUNS 114// WICKETS 4

Suresh Raina is the new man in. Now India's run-rate has come under five runs per over. India need a big partnership here. The home team will look to pick a wicket or two more here to push the visitors completely on the backfoot.

OVERS 22// RUNS 110// WICKETS 4

Rayudu departs! The right-hander plays a loose shot straight into the hands of Nasir who takes a sharp catch at point region. India lose two wickets in last two overs.

OVERS 21// RUNS 109// WICKETS 3

Immediately after completing his half-century, Dhawan plays a poor shot and goes back to the pavilion.

Dhawan c Litton Das b Nasir Hossain 53 (60b)

OVERS 20// RUNS 104// WICKETS 2

India have maintained a decent run-rate so far (over five) and on top they haven't lost too many wickets. Now what they need from Dhoni and Dhawan is a big partnership.

OVERS 19// RUNS 100// WICKETS 2

India have touched the 100-run mark in the over. But on the other hand Bangladeshi spinners are slipping through the overs very swiftly.

OVERS 18// RUNS 98// WICKETS 2

Dhawan takes a single in the fourth ball to complete his fifty. It's his 13th ODI half-century and first against Bangladesh.

OVERS 17// RUNS 95// WICKETS 2

Spin from both the end as Nasir Hossain and Shakib Al Hassan are bowling in tandem. Opener Dhawan is mere one run shot of his half-century.

OVERS 15// RUNS 88// WICKETS 2

It's high time Dhoni should make his presence felt by playing a big knock today. He has all the time in the world to settle first and deliver.

OVERS 13// RUNS 74// WICKETS 2

Nasir gets the main man in the over. Kohli departs for 23 after failing to pick a ball that didn't turn. Dhoni is the new man in.

V Kohli lbw b Nasir Hossain 23 (27b)

OVERS 12// RUNS 73// WICKETS 1

Rubel starts off with three dot balls. A good short ball is bowled next. Dhawan then gets some room and finds the fence for a four. A run ends the over.

OVERS 11// RUNS 68// WICKETS 1

Nasir comes to bowl and its the first time spin is introduced. A very good first over by the left arm spinner. Three runs come from it.

OVERS 10// RUNS 65// WICKETS 1

Mortaza bowls and Dhawan gets a brace. Two back to back fours are hit next and a single is taken. A dot ball ends the over.

Rain has stopped play! The play is going to resume quickly.

OVERS 9// RUNS 54// WICKETS 1

Mustafizur continues and Virat goes through the shot and gets a six. 50 runs come up for India. Kohli then uses his feet and puts away the bowler for a four. A dot ball ends the over.

OVERS 8// RUNS 42// WICKETS 1

Mustafizur bowls and he gets Virat to nick a ball to the slips but it falls short. A quick single is run before Dhawan drives straight to get three runs. Mortaza comes into bowl next and he starts off well. Virat then comes down the track and flicks the bowler for four runs. A defensive shot ends the over.

OVERS 6// RUNS 32// WICKETS 1

Dhawan hits through midwicket and gets a four. Mustafizur concedes seven runs from the over. Taskin then bowls a decent over which included a four.

OVERS 4// RUNS 21// WICKETS 1

Taskin continues and Kohli pushes the ball back to the bowler. A gentle defensive shot is played next. Kohli plays an orthodox square-cut and picks a four. The next ball is left alone. A no-ball is bowled next and India get a free-hit. A defensive shot ends the over.

OVERS 3// RUNS 16// WICKETS 1

Mustafizur has been the star for the hosts and he starts off with a wide. Dhawan then times a beautiful shot through the off side for a four. Mustafizur shows some aggression as he throws the ball back to the stumps. He then bowls well and sees Dhawan pushing forward and missing the ball. The next ball too is a dot. Movement of the pitch sees some zeal in him.

OVERS 2// RUNS 11// WICKETS 1

Taskin starts with a wide and India get an extra run too. Dhawan defends calmly next. India need a good partnership here. An LBW appeal next but the ball was high and outside leg. Taskin pitching the ball more towards middle and leg stump. A short ball is pulled away for a brace by Dhawan but tv replays show Tamim's leg touching the ropes when diving to stop the ball. It is a four. A straight ball is defended next. A wide delivery is bowled as Dhawan goes for a wild cut. A single down to 3rd man will keep Dhawan in strike.

OVERS 1// RUNS 3// WICKETS 1

Mustafizur Rahman starts well for Bangladesh with a seam up delivery. Next ball Sharma goes out for an out pitched delivery and hands a simple catch at point. Virat Kohli comes in and after a dot ball he picks up three runs after a solid drive. Dhawan then gently defends the fifth ball. A defensive shot from the crease ends the over.
