IPL 9: Kings XI Punjab's Shaun Marsh ruled out for remainder of the tournament

New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab suffered a major blow on Monday as Shaun Marsh was ruled out of the ongoing season with a back injury.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Marsh picked up the injury in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19, and has been carrying a niggle since then.

However, the Australian played Sunday's match against Gujarat Lions, which his team won by 23 runs.

Marsh, 32, is expected to return to Australia in next couple of days.

Marsh played six out of the seven games for his franchise, amassing 159 runs at a decent average of 31.80, with a strike rate of 118.65.

Even after beating the table-toppers on Sunday, Punjab are placed at the bottom of the points table after two wins in seven matches.
