PCB looking to hire `white` lawyer for reducing Amir`s ban

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has intended to hire an UK-based lawyer to have a possible 20 percent reduction in the five-year spot-fixing ban on fast bowler Mohammad Amir.

Johannesburg: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has intended to hire an UK-based lawyer to have a possible 20 percent reduction in the five-year spot-fixing ban on fast bowler Mohammad Amir.
The ICC banned Amir for five years for bowling no-balls at pre-determined times so as to fix spot-betting markets during a Test match against England in 2010, Sport24 reports.
Stating that he has discussed Amir`s ban with fellow directors, acting PCB chairperson Najam Sethi said that soon a British lawyer will be hired to look at ways to get at least 20 percent relief for Amir. Meanwhile, according to the Express Tribune, Sethi further said that some of the other reasons behind hiring a white lawyer are due to the reactions to their skin colour and also to look at anti-corruption laws. Sethi also said that after much pleading the ICC had agreed to form a sub-committee to look at the anti-corruption laws and see how, after the five year sentence ends, can Amir play test cricket again.
