Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee for his love for India.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee for his love for India.

Mr. Modi, who was in Australia to attend the G20 Summit, addressed the Indian diaspora at Allphones Arena in Sydney where Lee too was present.

The PM expressed his sentiments through his official account on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Brett Lee also took to Twitter to express his joy of meeting Mr. Modi as he addressed a 160000 strong crowd. Lee said he was impressed with the numbers that turned up to listen to the Indian PM.

Lee's former teammate and Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist too made use of his official Twitter account to pass judgement of the Modi-Lee bonhomie.

Earlier this year, the two cricketers met Narendra Modi along with their Prime Minister Tony Abbott and were delighted with the interaction with India's PM.

Both Lee and Gilchrist posted pictures along with a message on micro-blogging site Twitter after meeting India's new Prime Minister.

The former Aussie wicketkeeper and pacer were in India as part of the delegation of Australia's Prime Minister. They met Narendra Modi at a banquet for Tony Abbott.
