Barcelona fans allowed to fly Catalan separatist flags at Copa del Rey final

Madrid: A court here has ruled that Barcelona football fans attending the final of the Copa del Rey against Sevilla on Sunday will be able to display the Estelada pro-independence Catalan flag.

Barcelona said the ban on the Estelada flag, symbolising support for Catalonia`s breakaway from the rest of Spain, was an attack on freedom of expression, reports Efe.

The judge who approved the appeal said that it has not been proven that the display of the flags could incite violence or racism.

Catalan fans can now wave them in the final where Barcelona seek their second title of the football season after La Liga.
