Juventus team bus attacked with stones, bottles before Turin derby

New Delhi: Serie A leaders were received with stones and bottles at Turin's Stadio Olimpico ahead of Sunday's city derby. Torino fans hurled stones and bottles at the Juventus team bus but none of the players was hurt, according to media reports.

Even during the match, firecrackers were detonated inside the stadium hurting at least 10 people, of which two were said to be in serious conditions. Police were called into prevent a possible clash among the opposing fans.

Mid-table oufit Torino came from behind to the champions 2-1 in a pulsating derby. The win was their first win over their more fancied neighbours for the first time in 20 years.

Juventus were looking to extend their 17-match unbeaten run with a goal from legendary Andrea Pirlo's free-kick in the 35th minute, but Matteo Darmian equalised for the home side on the stroke of halftime, before Fabio Quagliarella netted the winner against his former club in the 57th minute for a thrilling win.

Massimiliano Allegri's side is 14 points ahead of second place Lazio after the end of 32nd round in Italy. The Old Lady also qualified for the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League 12 long years. They will play defending champions Real Madrid in the last four encounter.
