Hamilton tips Vettel to complete ‘hat trick’ of F1 championships ahead of Indian GP

New Delhi: McLaren ace Lewis Hamilton, who had earlier backed Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso to be a worthy winner of the Formula One drivers’ championship, has now backed in form Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel to complete his hat trick of championship wins this season ahead of Sunday’s Indian Grand Prix.
Hamilton had said in Korea that his Spanish former McLaren teammate was more deserving of a third title, but on Friday he changed his tune, tipping German Vettel for title glory. “Sebastian is the favourite every year,’ the Daily Mirror quoted Hamilton, as saying. “Red Bull keeps giving him the car. I don`t think anyone will keep up with them at the moment,” he added. Vettel’s title onslaught has turned a 39-point deficit into a six-point lead with three consecutive wins. However, Ferrari`s defiant Alonso, 31, said: “My situation is quite good. With four races to go, we have nearly the same points as Vettel and have all the possibilities open for the championship. We are in the situation we wanted, fighting to the end.” ANI
